Formation:  Llewellyn Formation

This is a wonderful fossil plant from the now-closed location near St. Clair, Pennsylvania. The fossil is preserved as a thin film of white pyrophyllite on black shale. The detail of this fossil is quite nice, and the plant is beautifully displayed on the large plate of shale. This is a very fine example of a colorful fossil fern frond from the Coal Regions of Pennsylvania.
