This is a very large fossil leaf. It is a complete Allophylus flexifolia from the Eocene of Colorado. This leaf is extremely well preserved and exhibits fine detail. This ovate leaf has an asymmetrical base and slightly undulating margins which are beautifully displayed on this specimen. The venation of the leaf is clearly defined, and the long petiole is quite distinct. The fossil has outstanding color and contrast and is wonderfully showcased on the rectangular plate of shale. This is an outstanding example of an Allophylus leaf from Colorado.
