Nice Bug-Eaten Allophylus Leaf with Long Petiole
Stock Number  FPCOL63
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Allophylus flexifolia Leaf
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Douglas Pass, Colorado
Size:  Leaf is 5.5

This is a large fossil leaf. It is a fine Allophylus flexifolia leaf from the Eocene of Colorado. This leaf has an asymmetrical base and slightly serrated margins. The body of the leaf is easily seen, and the petiole is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf. The leaf has good natural color and contrast and is almost perfectly centered on the rectangular plate of shale. The entire tip of the leaf was eaten by bugs, which gives the leaf its distinct look. This is a very distinct example of a bug-eaten Allophylus leaf from the Green River Formation.
