This is a large plate of plant fossils from the now-closed location at St. Clair, Pennsylvania. The fossils are preserved as a thin film of white pyrophyllite on black shale. The detail of the fossils is quite nice, and the plants are nicely showcased on the large plate of shale. There are also nice fern fronds preserved on the back side of the plate! This is a very fine example of a large plate of fossil fern fronds from the Coal Regions of Pennsylvania.
