Distinct Araucaria-like Pine Cone from Argentina
Stock Number  FPCON904
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Araucaria-like Pine Cone
Age:  Jurassic
Location:  Chubut Province, Patagonia, Argentina, South America
Size:  Cone is 4 1/4" long, 3 3/8" wide

The front side of the cone shows very nice detail of the cone's surface scales. The back side is beautifully polished by the severe winds of the Patagonian plains and also shows what it seems to be a deep wormhole.  The stem attachment point is easily seen. There is no fractures, which is quite uncommon for these rare cones. Heavy, fat, nice texture and shape. This is a fine example of a fossilized pine cone.

Note: Argentina has now banned the export of all fossils. We will strictly abide by and enforce this law - we will not acquire new fossils from Argentina. However, this fossil was collected and exported prior to this law, and can be sold legally.
