Size: Leaf is almost 2 inches long
Here is an extremely rare leaf from Utah. This is Unidentified Leaf from the Green River Formation. This is the only example of this leaf that we have ever seen from this site. The fossil leaf has a very rounded shape and exhibits fine detail. The entire, sawtoothed margins of the leaf are intact. This leaf has strong primary and secondary venation and much weaker tertiary venation. A small petiole is even intact, which is a bonus. The dark-colored leaf contrasts beautifully with the dark tan matrix. The fossil is nicely showcased on the semi-squared plate of shale. This is an excellent example of this very scarce leaf from the Eocene.
