Very Nice Leguminosites Leaf Centered on Plate
Stock Number  FPCOL59
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Leguminosites lesquereuxi
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Douglas Pass, Colorado
Size:  Leaf is 2.35 inches long

This is a very distinct specimen of Leguminosites lesquereuxiana from the Green River Formation of Colorado. This type of leaf has slightly undulated margins with very weak venation. This species is unusual in that the leaf has a slightly emarginate, or indented, apex - this specimen displays this feature beautifully. A very short petiole is still attached to the leaf. The dark brown leaf contrasts nicely with the light-colored matrix. The fossil is well centered on the semi-rectangular plate of shale. This is an extremely fine specimen of a fossil legume leaf from Colorado.
