Distinct Sycamore Leaf with Petiole Attached
Stock Number  FPUPW71
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Macginitiea wyomingensis (Sycamore Leaf)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Leaf is 2.9 inches across

Here is a very nice fossil leaf. This is Macginitiea wyomingensis, a Sycamore, from the Green River Formation of Utah. All five lobes of the leaf are easily seen, although the very tip of one lobe is missing. The venation of the leaf is quite distinct, and the petiole is still tightly attached to the leaf. The dark brown leaf contrasts beautifully with the khaki-colored matrix. The fossil is well centered on the squared plate of shale. This is a very affordable example of a Sycamore leaf from the Eocene.
