Here is an excellent specimen of Populus cinnamomoides. This distinct leaf is from the Eocene of Colorado. This lance-shaped leaf exhibits very fine detail. The slightly dentate margins are easily seen, and the venation of the leaf is beautifully defined. The long petiole is still attached to the leaf. The fossil has outstanding color and contrast and is very nicely showcased on the plate of matrix that also contains parts of other leaves. This is a fabulous specimen of Populus cinnamomoides from the Green River Formation.
