EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Celtis mccoshii (Hackberry Leaf)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Plate is 5.3 inches tall

This is a very nice specimen of Celtis mccoshii, a Hackberry leaf, from the Eocene of Utah. The lance-shaped leaf (bottom) displays excellent venation, and the serrated margins of the leaf are quite distinct. A very thin petiole is attached to the leaf. The hackberry leaf has very nice color and contrast. The fossil is well presented on the semi-rectangular matrix plate that also contains a detailed Divi Divi Tree leaf. This is a very fine Hackberry leaf from the Green River Formation.
