Here is a very interesting fossil fern from the famous Tonganoxie Sandstone of Kansas. This specimen was recently acquired from an old collection. The fossil was collected in the 1970s - we have heard that this site has been closed to collecting for a number of years. This specimen of Asterotheca hemitelioides has very good color and contrast. The frond displays very fine detail - this specimen also shows very distinct venation. This is a very collectible fossil fern from a classic location
