This is a very rare fossil leaf. It is a large Eugenia americana leaf from the Eocene of Utah. This long, thin leaf is wonderfully displayed and exhibits outstanding detail. The dentate margins of the leaf are intact, and the venation of the leaf is just outstanding. Even the tertiary venation is very easily seen! The dark-brown color of the leaf contrasts beautifully with the light-colored matrix. The leaf is well centered on the natural-edged plate of shale. This is a one-of-a-kind specimen of Eugenia americana - the only one we have ever seen
