Here is a distinct fossil leaf from an unusual location. This is a very nice Populus wilmattae (Poplar) leaf from Douglas Pass, Colorado. The leaf exhibits wonderful detail - the venation of the leaf is beautifully displayed. An extremely long petiole is still tightly attached to the leaf. The fossil has gorgeous color and contrast and is well centered on the natural plate of shale that also contains a fossil beetle. This is a very fine Poplar leaf from Colorado.
