Formation:  Tranquille Shale
Location:  Cache Creek, British Columbia, Canada

Here is an excellent specimen of Chamaecyparis sp. from the Eocene of British Columbia. It is very unusual to find such a long branch. This large white cedar sprig exhibits fine detail. Under magnification, the individual scale-like leaves are easily seen. This fossil plant has wonderful color and contrast. It is nicely centered on the natural plate of shale. This is a great example of fossil cedar foliage.
