Very Affordable Sycamore Leaf from Colorado
Stock Number  Z1028092
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Macginitiea wyomingensis (Sycamore Leaf)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Douglas Pass, Colorado
Size:  Leaf is over 2 inches long

Here is a very nice fossil leaf. This is Macginitiea wyomingensis, a Sycamore, from the Green River Formation of Utah. All four lobes of the leaf are easily seen, the venation of the leaf is quite distinct, and a LONG petiole is still attached to the base of the leaf. The brown-colored leaf contrasts beautifully with the khaki-colored matrix. The fossil is well presented on the squared plate of shale. This is a very affordable example of a Sycamore leaf from the Eocene.
