Stock Number  Z701093
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Macginitiea wyomingensis (Sycamore Leaf)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Douglas Pass, Colorado
Size:  Leaf is 6.75 inches long!

Here is a very large fossil leaf. This is Macginitiea wyomingensis, a Sycamore, from the Green River Formation of Colorado. All five lobes of the leaf are easily seen, and the slightly-serrrated margins are exhibited in wonderful fashion. The venation of the leaf is quite distinct, and a long petiole is still tightly attached to the leaf. The dark brown leaf contrasts beautifully with the khaki-colored matrix. The fossil is well showcased on the large, natural plate of shale. This is a great example of a large Sycamore leaf from Colorado.
