Due to their delicate nature, flowers are very rare in the fossil record. This is a fine specimen of an Eocene flower from Utah. This flower is wonderfully preserved, with the drooping petals and stamens easily seen. The fossil flower has great color and contrast and is nicely presented on the natural plate of shale that also contains a Salix cockerelli (Willow) leaf. This is an exciting specimen of a rare fossil flower from the Green River Formation.
