EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Salix cockerelli (Willow Leaf)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Leaf is 3.7 inches along curve

This is a wonderful example of a Salix cockerelli (Willow) leaf from the Green River Formation of Utah. This Willow leaf is complete and still has the petiole tightly attached. The lance-shaped leaf exhibits the long margins in outstanding fashion, and the venation of the leaf is easily seen. The fossil leaf has great color and contrast and is well presented on the large, natural plate of shale. This is a beautiful specimen of a Weeping Willow leaf from the Eocene.
