EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Populus wilmattae (Poplar Leaf)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Leaf is over 6" including petiole!

This is a very distinct plant fossil. It is a very large Populus wilmattae (Poplar Leaf) from the Eocene of Utah. This leaf has its classic heart shape and LONG petiole preserved, which is quite unusual. The amazing detail is easily seen under magnification. The leaf has great natural color and contrasts beautifully with the light-colored matrix. This is a very large (over six inches long!) example of a Poplar Leaf from the Eocene.

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
