Here is a wonderful specimen of a fossil cone from the ''Dawn Redwood'', Metasequoia occidentalis. This cone was found in the Oligocene deposits of Montana. The cone is complete and displays excellent detail. The spirally arranged scales of the cone are clearly defined and easily seen. The cone is still tightly attached to the stout stalk. The fossil has great color and contrast and is well showcased on the natural plate of shale. This is a very displayable specimen of a Metasequoia cone from the Oligocene.

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
