EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Fossil Fern Plate
Age:  Pennsylvanian
Formation:  Braidwood Formation
Location:  Johnson County, Missouri
Size:  Plate is 3.2 inches tall

This is a wonderful plant fossil. It is a beautiful fossil Fern plate from Johnson County, Missouri. This specimen is from the same locality as the fern concretions - fossils NOT in concretions are very rare from this site. The striking dark brown coloration is fully natural, and the minute detail is exquisite. The ferns are beautifully showcased on the large, unbroken plate of shale that also displays a partial Annularia whorl. This is a very distinct plant fossil from this Mazon Creek-like locality.

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
