This is a textbook fossil leaf. It is an excellent Macginitiea wyomingensis, a Sycamore leaf, from the Eocene of Colorado. This fabulous leaf has all five lobes wonderfully intact. The serrated margins are beautifully displayed, and the venation is clearly defined. A long, complete petiole is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf. The leaf has wonderful dark brown color and incredible natural contrast. The distinct fossil leaf is beautifully showcased on the large, natural plate of shale. This is an outstanding presentation of a complete Sycamore leaf from Colorado - one of the best of its kind ever found.
