Very Unusual Fossil Fern Plate from Pennsylvania
Stock Number  D602083
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Fossil Fern Plate
Age:  Pennsylvanian
Formation:  Llewellyn Formation
Location:  Near St. Clair, Pennsylvania
Size:  Plate is 4.8 inches across

Here is a wonderful plant fossil. It is a plate of fossil ferns from Pennsylvania. There is an excellent Alethopteris frond and a fabulous Pecopteris leaf on the plate. The fossils are distinct and contrast very well with the dark matrix plate. The white color comes from the mineral, pyrophillite. The ferns display beautifully on the natural plate of shale. This is a very collectible fossil fern plate from the Coal Regions of Pennsylvania.

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
