This is an extremely distinct fossil plant. It is a fine leaf of Allophylus flexifolia from the Green River Formation of Colorado. This lance-shaped leaf has a tight, branching base - the venation of the leaf is quite distinct and easily seen with the naked eye. The LONG petiole is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf. There is also an uncommon Populus cinnamomoides leaf preserved on the plate. This is a very collectible specimen of Allophylus and Poplar leaves from the Eocene of Colorado.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
