Name:
Fossil Seed Fern Fronds
Age: Pennsylvanian
Formation: Braidwood Formation
Location: Johnson County, Missouri
Size: Concretion is about 2 inches across
This is a very nice multiple seed fern specimen from the Pensylvanian of Missouri. The fossils are preserved in a siderite concretion, and both halves of the concretion are present, so you receive both part and counterpart of the fossil. There are four separate seed fern fronds (three are nice) displayed in the concretion, which is quite unusual. The fossils have excellent natural color and contrast. This is a very interesting specimen that exposes four fern fronds in the same concretion.
