This is a very detailed fossil leaf. It is a large Nyssa alata (Black Gum Tree) Leaf from a new find in the Paleocene of Montana. This specimen has great ovoid shape - the strong venation is clearly seen. The fabulous color and contrast make for a striking display. The beautiful leaf is well showcased on the squared plate of shale. This is a very unusual fossil leaf from an unusual location in Montana.
