This is a very unusual fossil leaf. It is a fabulous Corylus insignus (Hazelnut) Leaf from a new find in the Paleocene of Montana. This specimen has great shape - and the serrations, reticulation, and venation are clearly seen. The fabulous color makes for a striking display. The beautiful leaf is well showcased on a nice plate of shale. This is a very fine example of a strange fossil Hazelnut leaf from an unusual location in Montana.
