Name:
Three Different Types of Leaves
Age: Eocene
Formation: Green River Formation
Location: Douglas Pass, Colorado
Size: Plate is 5.9 inches tall
This is a very nice plate of fossil leaves. It is a wonderful trio of leaves from the Eocene of Colorado. The leaf at the top of the plate is Allophylus flexifolia. This leaf has an asymmetrical base and slightly serrated margins. The body of the leaf is easily seen, and the petiole is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf. The leaf in the middle of the plate is Aleurites glandulosa. There is also a nice partial Macgintea wyomingensis Sycamore leaf at the bottom of the plate. The leaves have good natural color and contrast and are beautifully showcased on the large, natural plate of shale. This is a very displayable example of three different leaves from the Green River Formation.
