Here is a large plate of fossil plants from the classic St. Clair, Pennsylvania locality. The fossil plants are preserved as a thin film of white pyrophyllite on black shale. Several different types of plants are beautifully displayed on the plate. There are many unidentified seed ferns, several examples of Neuropteris, and a nice branch of Sphenophyllum. These plants have wonderful contrast and excellent detail. The back side of the plate also exhibits many nice seed fern fronds. This is a very displayable plate of Coal Age plants.
