EXTINCTIONS CHOICE - Beautiful Lepidodendron Bark
Stock Number  FPBARX10
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Lepidodendron Bark
Age:  Pennsylvanian
Formation:  Cherokee Series
Location:  Pella, Iowa
Size:  Plate is 13 inches across!

This is a very fine plate of Lepidodendron branches from the Pennsylvanian of Iowa. Lepidodendron trees were very important in the formation of coal in the mid-continent area. The diamond-shaped pattern of the bark is very distinct - each ''diamond'' represents the point of attachment of a fallen leaf. This specimen has many large examples of branches preserved. The color is striking, and the pattern is very detailed. There is also a fabulous branch on the back side of the plate! This is a top quality specimen of Lepidodendron tree branches from Iowa.
