Name:
Araliophyllum quina Leaf
Age: Eocene
Formation: Green River Formation
Location: Bonanza, Utah
Size: Leaf is 1.8 inches across
Here is an extremely rare fossil leaf. This is Araliophyllum quina from the Green River Formation of Utah. This is only the second specimen of this particular leaf that we have ever seen. This leaf (related to Oreopanax) is palmately compound with extremely serrated margins. The venation is composed of palmate primaries with weak, opposite secondary veins. The leaf has good color and contrast and is well centered on the natural plate of shale that also contains another leaf. This is a fine example of this very unusual leaf from the Eocene.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
