Excellent Split Pair Plate of Metasequoia Fronds
Stock Number  FPMME16

Name:   Metasequoia occidentalis
Age:  Oligocene
Formation:  Muddy Creek Formation
Location:  Beaverhead County, Montana
Size:  Plates are each 5.9 inches tall

Here is a wonderful example of Metasequoia occidentalis, the ''Dawn Rredwood'', from the Oligocene of Montana. The fossils have great color and superb contrast - all natural, no added enhancement. The fronds are nicely showcased on the natural matrix plates. And there is even a fish scale fossilized on the plate. The fossil is very unusual in that both halves of the split pair are preserved and offered together. This is a beautiful display specimen of this collectible ''living fossil''.
