Here is a very unusual plant fossil. This is a wonderful specimen of a Fossil Cons from the Eocene of Canada. There is one nice, distinct cone present on the plate - it is very unusual to find a fossil cone at this locality. This cones was composed of large, thick scales. Under magnification, one can easily see the individual scales of the cone. The dark, carbonaceous fossil contrasts nicely with the lighter-colored matrix. The cone is well showcased on the large, natural plate of shale. This is a wonderful example of a fossil cone from British Columbia.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
