This is a wonderful plate of fossil Seed Ferns from the classic St. Clair, Pennsylvania locality. The Seed Ferns are preserved as a thin film of white pyrophyllite on black shale. The plate has many fronds intact, and many different types of fossil flora are represented. There is even a very rare Seed Pod preserved on the plate. The fossils have outstanding color and contrast and are well presented on the natural plate of shale. And the back side of the plate is also has fern fossils represented. This is a very uncommon assortment of Coal Age fossils.
