Colorful Sycamore Leaf with Long Petiole Attached
Stock Number  AA927063

Name:   Macginitiea wyomingensis (Sycamore Leaf)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Leaf is 3.8 inches long including petiole

Here is a very nice fossil leaf. This is Macginitiea wyomingensis, a Sycamore, from the Green River Formation of Utah. All five lobes of the leaf are easily seen, and the entire margins are exhibited in wonderful fashion. The venation of the leaf is quite distinct, and a long petiole is still tightly attached to the leaf. The colorful brown leaf contrasts beautifully with the khaki-colored matrix. The fossil is well presented on the natural plate of shale. This is a great example of a large Sycamore leaf from the Eocene.
