Name:
Fossil Seed Fern Fronds
Age: Pennsylvanian
Formation: Llewellyn
Location: Near St. Clair, Pennsylvania
Size: Plate is 6.7 inches across
This is a very nice grouping of plants from the now-closed location at St. Clair, Pennsylvania. The fossils are preserved as a thin film of white pyrophyllite on black shale. There are MANY large ferns on the plate. The detail of the fossils is quite nice. The plants are nicely scattered about the plate of shale, and the other side is just COVERED with fossils! This is a very fine example of fossil plants from the Coal Regions of Pennsylvania
