This is a fabulous fossil cone. It is a gorgeous specimen of Araucaria mirabilis from the Jurassic of Argentina. This specimen was recently acquired from a major fossil collection. This fossil cone is quite large and totally inflated. The cone exhibits exquisite detail. The attachment point is intact (hard to see in photo), and the individual cone scales are very distinct and beautifully displayed. The back side of the cone even has a small insect boring (rare!). This is one of the better whole Araucaria cones we have had.
Note: Argentina has now banned the export of all fossils. We will strictly abide by and enforce this law - we will not acquire new fossils from Argentina. However, this fossil was collected and exported prior to this law, and can be sold legally.
