This is a colorful fossil leaf. It is a large Cercidiphyllum arcticum from the Paleocene of Montana. This specimen has great detail - the reticulation and venation are clearly seen. The dark, natural color makes for a striking display. The leaf is well centered on the rounded plate of shale. This is a collectible fossil leaf from an unususl location in Montana.
