Name:
Sterculia coloradensis
Age: Eocene
Formation: Green River Formation
Location: Bonanza, Utah
Size: Leaf is 4.3 inches long
This is an extremely scarce fossil leaf. It is a large Sterculia coloradensis from the Eocene of Utah. This distinctive leaf has three long, pointed lobes with entire margins - it appears to be a leaf from a tropical vine. The long petiole is still tightly attached to the leaf. The fossil plant has great color and contrast and is well positioned on the natural plate of shale. This is one of only a handful of this unusual leaf that we have ever seen.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
