Name:
Allophylus flexifolia
Age: Eocene
Formation: Green River Formation
Location: Douglas Pass, Colorado
Size: Larger leaf is 5.1 inches long!
This is a very pretty pair of fossil leaves. They are large Allophylus flexifolia leaves from the Eocene of Colorado. These leaves are well preserved and exhibit fine detail. The ovate leaves have an asymmetrical base and slightly undulating margins. The venation of the leaves is present, and the petioles are quite distinct. The fossils have outstanding color and contrast and are wonderfully centered on the rectangular plate of shale. This is an excellent double example of Allophylus leaves from Colorado.
