Name:
Fossil Seed Fern Fronds
Age: Pennsylvanian
Formation: Llewellyn Formation
Location: St. Clair, Pennsylvania
Size: Fossil is 5.1 inches long
This is a fabulous plant from the now-closed location at St. Clair, Pennsylvania. The fossil is preserved as a thin film of white pyrophyllite on black shale. The detail of this fossil is quite nice, and the plant is nicely centered on the plate of shale. This is a very fine example of a fossil fern frond from the Coal Regions of Pennsylvania.
