This is a very nice specimen of Quercus cuneatus, an Oak, from the Eocene of Utah. Oak leaves are not common from this formation. The venation of the leaf is quite noticeable. The midvein is strong and extends to the apex. The secondary veins are alternate. The margins of the leaf are very distinct. A short petiole is attached to the leaf. The specimen has great color and contrast and is well centered on a rectangular plate of matrix. This is a fine example of a fossil oak leaf from the Green River Formation.
