Name:   Macginitiea wyomingensis (Sycamore Leaf)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Douglas Pass, Colorado
Size:  Leaf is 2.1 inches long

Here is a very unusual leaf from the Eocene of Colorado. This is a Macginitiea wyomingensis (Sycamore Leaf) from the Green River Formation. This specimen exhibits very fine detail - the venation is even preserved. The distinct lobes of the leaf are intact, and the LONG petiole is still attached. The dark brown color of the leaf is totally natural. The leaf is nicely showcased on the natural plate of shale. This is a very pretty specimen of an extremely unusual Sycamore leaf from Colorado.
