Spectacular Annularia In Concretion
Stock Number  FPFMI15

Name:   Annularia sp.
Age:  Pennsylvanian
Formation:  Braidwood Formation
Location:  Johnson County, Missouri
Size:  Concretion is 2.1 inches long

Here is an excellent specimen of Annularia sp. from the Pennsylvanian of Missouri. Annularia represent the leaf whorls found at the nodes of the Calamites plant. This fossil plant is wonderfully preserved in a concretion. Both halves of the concretion are present so both part and counterpart are intact. The central stem of the plant is quite evident and three whorls of long, linear leaves are beautifully displayed. The fossil has great color and superb contrast. This is a very aesthetic example of this Coal Age plant.
