Name:
Macginitiea wyomingensis (Sycamore Leaf)
Age: Eocene
Formation: Green River Formation
Location: Douglas Pass, Colorado
Size: Leaf is 2.3 inches across
This is an excellent fossil leaf. It is a fine Macginitiea wyomingensis (Sycamore Leaf) from the Eocene of Colorado. This leaf has five distinct lobes. The leaf exhibits excellent detail - the serrated margins of the leaf are clearly defined, and the venation of the leaf is easily seen. The small petiole is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf. The fossil has outstanding, natural color and contrasts wonderfully with the khaki-colored matrix. The leaf is beautifully centered on the squared plate of shale. This is a very displayable specimen of a serrated Sycamore leaf from Colorado.
