Name:
Lindera varifolia
Age: Eocene
Formation: Green River Formation
Location: Bonanza, Utah
Size: Leaf is 3.1" including petiole
Here is an extremely rare leaf from the Eocene of Utah. This is a large specimen of Lindera varifolia. This is one of the larger examples of this leaf that we have seen. This leaf is complete and exhibits fine detail. The entire margins are intact and the venation of the leaf is clearly defined. This unusual leaf still has a very distinct petiole attached. This fossil has good color and contrast and is well presented on the large, rectangular plate of matrix. This is a very fine example of a highly uncommon Lindera leaf from the Green River Shale
