Name:
Macginitiea wyomingensis (Sycamore Leaf)
Age: Eocene
Formation: Green River Formation
Location: Bonanza, Utah
Size: Leaf is 3.7 inches tall
This is a very pretty specimen of Macginitiea wyomingensis (Sycamore Leaf) from the Eocene of Utah. It is difficult to obtain Macginitiea leaves that are as complete as this specimen. This leaf is complete with all five lobes present. The venation on this specimen is very strongly pronounced. The serrated borders are easily seen, and a small petiole is still attached to the leaf. The fossil has dark color and nice contrast. The leaf is well centered on a squared block of shale. This is a very fine example of a fossil Sycamore leaf.
