Name:
Distylium eocenica, Others
Age: Eocene
Formation: Green River Formation
Location: Bonanza, Utah
Size: Plate is 4.7" X 6.7"
This is a very rare Eocene leaf plate. It is Distylium eocenica leaf and others from the Green River Formation of Utah. This broadly triangular leaf has extremely fine detail preserved. The venation of the leaf is very clearly defined, and the overall shape is nicely intact. There is also a distinct Lygodium kaulfussii (Climbing Fern) leaf and a complete Salix cockerelli (Willow) leaf on the plate. The leaves have excellent color and contrast and are well centered on the squared plate of shale. This is a very unique association of this unusual Distylium leaf and others from Utah.
