Very Unusual Plate of Leaves and Insects
Stock Number  FPCOL31

Name:   Leaves and Insects
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Douglas Pass, Colorado
Size:  Plate is 3.6" X 3.7"

Here is a very unusual plate of fossil leaves and insects from the Eocene of Colorado. There are two leaves (of two different types) and two different insects on this slab! It is very unusual to find so many different types of fossils on one plate. On the lower left of the plate is a fine example of Zelkova nervosa (Keaki Tree leaf). A highly detailed Populus cinnamomoides leaf is on the right side of the slab. Wonderful specimens of a Crane Fly and a Mosquito are on the upper left. All of the fossils are quite distinct and are easily seen on the rock. The fossils have excellent, natural color and contrast and are nicely positioned on the natural-edged plate. This is a unique association plate of FOUR different fossils from the Green River Formation.
