Very Rare Aleurites Leaf from Colorado
Stock Number  FPCOL30

Name:   Aleurites glandulosa Leaf
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Douglas Pass, Colorado
Size:  Leaf is 3.5 inches long

Here is a gorgeous fossil leaf. This is a rare specimen of Aleurites glandulosa from the Green River Formation of Colorado. This distinctly tri-lobed leaf is complete with slightly undulating margins - even the very tips of the lobes are intact. A long, straight petiole is still tightly attached, and the venation of the leaf is clearly defined. Under magnification, even the tertiary venation is easily seen. The leaf has very good color and contrast and is well centered on the semi-natural-edged plate. This is an extremely fine example of this highly uncommon leaf - one of the very few of this type from Colorado that we have ever heard of.
